Still Outstanding 2019

Welcome to Bus Stop

We are a family run Pre-School, Nursery and Forest School and a Forest School Training provider located in the beautiful grounds of the National Trusts Polesden Lacey Estate in Bookham, Surrey. Our dedicated building sits within the Estate and our group has freedom to explore the wonderful North Downs.

At Bus Stop we believe that children should experience learning no matter what the weather. We follow the Forest School approach and the Learning Outside the Classroom approach to learning which is delivered alongside the Governments Early Year Foundation Stage Curriculum, 2021.

Our approach to learning is built on providing children from Birth to 5 years with the opportunity to experience learning through play, exploration, risk taking and with time to test out their own ideas. Children are given time to move freely between the well planned inside and outside learning environments, experience trips within the local community and go on weekly adventures out at Forest School, where they eat, sleep and play in the woods all day. Our learning approach aims to create independent, resilience, critical thinkers, active learners and promote respect for others.

Quotes from our latest Ofsted report in June 2019:

“Children’s outdoor learning opportunities are truly awe inspiring. They flourish when exploring the vast outdoor areas and demonstrate a superb knowledge and understanding of the natural world”.

“Staff provide a rich learning environment and are highly effective at stimulating each child’s imagination, enthusiasm and enjoyment. Their relationships with children are heart felt. Staff know each child’s individual capabilities and personal traits. This enables them to provide an environment rich in endless opportunities to help support their learning”.
